AADQ: Trade Up To Get Dez Bryant If He Slips?

by AADQ

I figure this old feature is a welcomed thing for me to chime in with from time to time. The National Football Post is floating the idea that Dez Bryant could slip into the 20s, maybe late 20s, due to a bad “attitude” and hammy. He is hands down the best receiver in this draft. That being said, would you trade our first second and our third for the chance to take him in the 20s? I think I would. With Thomas Jones on board along with vets Brian Waters and Mike Vrabel, I think this team now has strong leadership. Additionally, Todd Haley has experience working with diva receivers, and his somewhat legendary veteran coordinators would also help keep all strong personalities in check.

Addicts, is Dez Bryant worth the gamble of trading up to get him if he slips into the 20s?

And ther is NO way in hell Dez Bryant falls out of the Top 20...forget about it.

The Chiefs SHOULD take Eric Berry at number 5 but I believe they want to move down. I have them taking Bulaga in round 1, then T. Cody and Nate Allen in round 2. You get your true LT (and now an impressive left side of the line), a true NT, and a playmaking safety. If Spikes is there for your second 2nd round pick (number 50 I think), then you take him but I think he goes early second round.

No, no, and no. No way the Chiefs take Bryant. I've said it 100 times...he does not fit the Haley/Pioli 'right 53' no matter how good he is. This isn't fantasy football, these are real people with real personalities.

DEZ won't fall and he'll wow 'em at his workout, so if we want him it's at our #1.

We need offense just as much as we need defense. If we could trade up without giving up our 3rd rounder, then do it. I would even consider trading next years first and some change for him if he slipped past 25. We need O linemen bad though and 3rd round is prime for a 8 yr starting OG.

Adam Best going for a skill player in round one? Glad I was sitting down for that one ;) Seriously, I can see a move into the late first to grab a player. I wouldn't be targeting WR, but "Daddy Defense" would do it for an offensive player. I'll give you all a hint, his name rhymes with bouncey.

I don't know about giving up a 2nd and a 3rd in a draft class this deep in WR and OL. If the draft pans out like the current drafttek mock, we'd be giving up Vlad Ducasse and Jon Asomoah for Bryant.

We could pick up Terrance Cody with our 2b, giving us McClain or Berry, Cody, and Bryant for the first three rounds.

Ok, wait, that doesn't sound so bad. But I would rather get Ducasse and Asomoah at cheaper contracts than take a risk on Bryant. Build from the trenches, baby!

Teams are built based on character-based best-player-available strategies. I hold on to the hope that the Chiefs will actually score 2 trade downs in the 1st, loading up on picks. Then, let's say we're in the early/mid/late teens, and let's say McClain, Williams, Haden, and Thomas are all gone. Bryant slips due to workouts. The last time a ridiculously athletic guy with potential character issues slipped, he did pretty well. His name was Randy Moss. Now I'm not saying Bryant has Moss kind of talent, but if he's the best player available that doesn't play QB, why not? It's a need on the team, assuming the team is comfortable with his character. Bryant, Bowe, Chambers and a slot-to-be-named later would instantly infuse fear (assuming a new C, RG, and potentially RT in the draft) in opposing defenses.

Also, I think that if we were to trade up we wouldn't have to give up our 3rd rounder. We could possibly trade up to Arizona's 1st by offering our 2a and Jarrad Page.

I don't want to trade up for Bryant and if you could convince me to trade up for a WR it would be for Golden Tate.

I think we should do that only thing i worry is should we use our 2 picks and get 2 players or just 1

I wouldn't disagree, but i still think defense is our top priority.

Yes it's nice having a good offense, but as i have said before, it's not our offense losing games for us.

We need a S ei. Berry
a NT, ei. Cody
a ILB, ei. Spikes.

All achievable in the first 2 rounds.
