The Kansas City Chiefs are back and open for business this offseason—at least as busy as the offseason gets—with the start of offseason training activities on Monday. That means that head coach Andy Reid made himself available to reporters less than two weeks before the 2024 NFL Draft.

Out of all the topics being discussed, however, Reid began his time with the media by saying he had nothing to add about Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said they'll let the legal process play out before the team responds.

Rice is facing several charges—eight in total—in connection with his alleged involvement in a multi-vehicle accident in Dallas on March 31. Rice was reportedly driving recklessly at high speeds in a Lamborghini while racing with a Corvette before the cars lost control on the left lane of a highway and caused the accident with injuries.

Rice and the other driver, Theodore Knox, made the situation even worse by reportedly fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, Rice eventually turned himself in to police after seeking legal counsel and released a statement saying he would be cooperating fully with Dallas authorities. Rice's charges include one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.

In past incidents, the Chiefs have typically waited for the legal process to play out before weighing in with any real statements and/or punishments themselves. Reid told reporters that was going to be the case this time with Rice as well.

Rice is a second-year receiver who was the Chiefs' second-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft after completing his career at SMU. He had 79 catches for 938 receiving yards and 7 scores in his rookie campaign.
