The latest updates concerning Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice unfolded on Wednesday after a few days of silence as authorities in Dallas filed eight official charges against Rice in connection with a multi-vehicle accident on March 31.

An arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday for Rice along with another person, Theodore Knox, who were both allegedly driving at high speeds on a Dallas highway that resulted in a multi-vehicle collision and injuries.

Rice was charged with a count of aggravated assault, another count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs receiver is reportedly set to turn himself in to authorities.

At the time of the crash, authorities stated that Rice and Knox were driving a Lamborghini and Corvette at a high rate of speed in the left lane of a multi-lane highway before losing control and causing several other vehicles to collide with each other. The resulting injuries were fortunately not life-threatening although one person was reportedly hospitalized.

Rice has released multiple statements via social media and through his lawyer stating his intent to fully cooperate with authorities. The latest report from Josina Anderson states he was preparing to turn himself in as of Wednesday evening.

Rice, who is 23, was a second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs last spring in the 2023 NFL Draft and went on to win a Super Bowl with the team in his rookie campaign. He finished the season with 79 catches for 938 yards and 7 touchdowns.
