Relax, it's for a different sport.

Most Kansas City Chiefs fans are aware of the fact that Patrick Mahomes is a co-owner of the Kansas City Current, the women's soccer team located in KC. Mahomes joined the ownership group in 2023 but his wife, Brittany, has been in the ownership group since women's soccer came back to Kansas City in 2021.

The Mahomes have been very active with the team and they had the honor of leading the "KC BABY" chant at the season opener, which took place at CPKC Stadium, the first-ever stadium built for a women's professional sports team.

Well, Mahomes isn't the only NFL quarterback to own an NWSL team. Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is in the ownership group of Gotham FC, which is the New York/New Jersey NWSL squad. The Current face Gotham on the road this weekend and Manning is letting the trash talk flow ahead of the match-up.

"He may have one more Super Bowl ring than me, but he does not have a NWSL championship ring like I do." Manning joked while appearing on SportsCenter on Wednesday afternoon.

Gotham won its first NWSL title this past season, edging out the OL (now Seattle) Reign 2-1 in the NWSL Championship last November. The Current appeared in the championship game the previous season, just their second year since returning to the league, but fell to the Portland Thorns. Last year was a rough season for them as they finished second from the bottom of the table.

This season is off to a great start for Mahomes' Current, however. They're undefeated after three games and are sitting at the top of the table. They play Gotham FC on Sunday evening at 5:00 PM CST. The winner will get bragging rights between Mahomes and Manning.
