Every draft weekend matters for NFL teams, but this one feels extremely important for the Kansas City Chiefs. For the first time under general manager Brett Veach, the roster features multiple glaring needs, and for the first time, he’ll be making those decisions from near the top of the draft order.

The lone upside to a 6-11 season is the chance to pick earlier than normal, so that means the Chiefs hold the No. 9 overall pick—their first top-10 selection since trading up to No. 10 in the 2017 draft for the chance to select quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Even with early selections, Veach has his work cut out for him. There are long-term roster concerns at running back, wide receiver, offensive tackle, edge rusher, defensive interior, cornerback, and safety.

Here at Arrowhead Addict, we're excited to announce our comprehensive draft coverage in the form of a new series: 100 Prospects in 100 Days. Informative breakdowns from our own Price Carter feature in-depth looks at this year's most exciting talents and how they could specifically fit with the Chiefs roster.

Our draft profiles are listed below and will be published daily leading up to the draft until we reach our total of 100 Chiefs draft profiles. Before we get to those, however, let's take an updated look at the current draft choices held by the Chiefs (and make sure to check out our Arrowhead Addict Big Board as well.

Running Backs

Running back isn't what it was last year, Jeremiyah Love is the clear top RB, but there are some scheme fits on day 2 or 3. Right now, there’s probably only a few names we can envision being a true lead back at the next level.

Tight Ends

There’s not a Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren in this class, but there is lots of depth. Pound for pound, this is one of the better tight end classes we’ve seen in a while.

Offensive Line

Not a ton of depth here. Mostly two big names at the top, and even then, there are some questions about them. Mostly project tackles into the late round 1 to round 2 area

Defensive Line

The Chiefs will find solid depth in this year's edge class with several body types—bigger bodies like Faulk, Bain, and Mesidor, and smaller speed guys like Bailey, Reese, and Thomas. The interior linemen are also solid early with McDonald, Hunter, and Woods, but there's a steep drop on Day 2. Better nose tackle class than 3-technique.

Defensive Backs

There’s no clear alpha at cornerback, but there are several players who will fill valuable roles later on day 2. It's also a slot corner class. As for safety, the obvious star at the top is Caleb Downs, but there's also some very good depth—a very solid class even into day 3.
