The best free agents still available for the Kansas City Chiefs

If the Chiefs want to continue shopping in free agency's second week, there are still plenty of good players remaining.

The first week of NFL free agency is in the books. There have been lots of big signings, some major trades, and plenty of big moves for NFL commentators to talk about.

For fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, things have been relatively slow. As I'm writing this, the biggest moves have been retaining their own players (Chris Jones being the biggest one), with the lone exception being the signing of wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. Fans are also not-so-patiently waiting for the trade of cornerback L'Jarius Sneed.

While most of the biggest names in free agency have already signed, that doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of solid players available that could help the Chiefs in their quest to pull off the NFL's first-ever three-peat. So while the wave of signings has become more of a trickle, here are some of the players that the Chiefs may still want to target.

For each position I have listed the available players that I think you should keep an eye on in order that I like them for the Chiefs.

Quarterbacks

Best Players Still Available: Josh Dobbs, Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Tannehill, Trevor Siemian, Blaine Gabbert, Carson Wentz

The Chiefs still have some options for their backup quarterback spot. While at Blaine Gabbert is available to return, I never got the sense that he gelled with Patrick Mahomes the same way that Chad Henne did. I really like the idea of an athletic option like Josh Dobbs. I think Andy Reid could come up with some fun special packages for him and maybe he'd even consider using him to run true quarterback sneaks.

If the Chiefs are still set on going the "older/experienced" route, Teddy Bridgewater or Ryan Tannehill could be nice options, but I worry that either their price tag could be a little too high or they may want to sign somewhere where they might have a better chance of playing. Trevor Siemian and Blaine Gabbert are probably the bottom of the barrel when it comes to veteran options with enough experience to fill the role.

Some people like the idea of a Carson Wentz reclamation project, but Wentz hasn't been a good locker room guy so I don't know that I think his upside is worth the risk on that front.

Now let's take a look at some free agent running back options.
