We've got your one-stop shop here for all of the Kansas City Chiefs free agent activity this offseason.

They call it a "free agent frenzy" for a reason. When the new league year begins on Wednesday, the National Football League's transaction wire is as active as ever, a non-stop flow of news surrounded by rumors that makes it difficult to even digest the biggest changes in the league.

The madness actually begins a few days before when the "tampering" window opens on Monday afternoon. From that point forward, commitments are made and deals are agreed upon, at least unofficially, which leads to one NFL insider after another posting their scoops online. Considering the number of players who will be switching teams and/or signing deals, there's a lot to process.

It can be hard to keep track of everything across the league, but we can do our part here to keep you posted on the activities of your favorite team and familiar players. We'll keep everything updated here with our 2024 free agent tracker.

Traded players

  • L'Jarius Sneed, defensive back (Traded to Titans) - After utilizing the franchise tag, the Chiefs ultimately traded away Sneed to the Tennessee Titans for a lower-than-expected return of a 2025 third-round choice and a swap of 7th-round positions.

Free agent signings

  • Matt Araiza, punter (1-year, $795K) - The Chiefs grabbed Araiza in a bit of a shocking move as Tommy Townsend's deal expires. Araiza has been out of the NFL for two years but there's no denying his talent.
  • Irv Smith Jr., tight end (terms unknown) - The Chiefs grab a former second-round pick hoping to strike gold with a TE3 competitor.
  • Marquise Brown, wide receiver (1-year, $11M) - Brett Veach got his man and Chiefs Kingdom can finally relax about the state of things at WR.
  • Carson Wentz, quarterback (1-year) - The Chiefs bring in a quarterback with more experience than ever to sit behind Mahomes.

Re-signed free agents

  • Drue Tranquill, linebacker (3-year, $19M) - Tranquill made no secret of his love for playing in K.C. and the franchise loved him back with a three-year deal to keep him in house for Steve Spagnuolo's defense.
  • Chris Jones, defensive lineman (5-year, $158.75M) - A hefty deal but one Veach had to make. Should have locked up Jones a year before, but here the Chiefs end up retaining a franchise legend for the rest of his prime and ensure their best chance to chase a three-peat.
  • James Winchester, long snapper (terms unknown)- The Chiefs brought back Winchester for another ride—every year since 2015.
  • Mike Caliendo, offensive line (returns as ERFA)
  • Malik Herring, defensive end (returns as ERFA)
  • Nazeeh Johnson, defensive back (returns as ERFA)
  • Jack Cochrane, linebacker (returns as ERFA)
  • Deon Bush, safety (1-year, $3.7M) - The Chiefs are bringing back the special teams ace for another year of depth and security.
  • Mike Pennel (terms unknown) - The veteran run-stopper is back for another year in K.C.
  • Turk Wharton (1-year, $2.7M) - Former Missouri S&T find is back for year five with the Chiefs.
  • Derrick Nnadi (terms unknown) - The Chiefs rounded up yet another DT to bring back in 2024.

Chiefs FAs who signed with new teams

  • Tommy Townsend (2-year, $6M) - The Houston Texans signed Townsend early in free agency to a two-year contract.
  • Nick Allegretti (3-year, $15M) - Allegretti joins Andrew Wylie along the front lines of the Washington offense.
  • Willie Gay Jr. (1-year, $5M) - The young linebacker took a one-year deal to showcase his skill set with several former Chiefs in the Big Easy.
  • Jody Fortson (1-year, $1.225M) - The Chiefs' long-term tight end project will reunite with Tyreek Hill in Miami.
  • Mike Edwards (1-year, $2.8M) - The Buffalo Bills helped erase the need at safety after losing Jordan Poyer by signing Edwards away from K.C.

Unsigned free agents

  • Mike Danna, DL
  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB
  • Blaine Gabbert, QB
  • Mecole Hardman, WR
  • Richie James, WR
  • Jerick McKinnon, RB
  • Donovan Smith, OL
