The New York Giants (Pick 25)

Why it makes sense for them:

The Giants just invested heavily in Daniel Jones. The nature of today’s NFL is that the draft becomes infinitely more important when you have given a long-term deal to your starting quarterback. So, for the Giants, who are going to need to hit on some picks in the heart of the draft, trading out might make the most sense. For a team still in transition, the Giants are better off getting as many picks as they can grab.

When you look at the Giants roster, a few positions of need are very apparent. For one, they do not have any star wide receivers. They also are in need of some more talent in the defensive backfield. At this point in the draft, they would be hitting in the second tier of receivers and defensive backs. At those positions of need, pick 31 and some more picks in the heart of the draft might be the best value they can get.

Likelihood of Chiefs trading for this pick: Low

The Chiefs wouldn’t have to part with a bunch of draft capital for this pick. It seems, however, somewhat unlikely that a player that the Chiefs were “in love with” at 25. The reason that you might want this spot in the draft is to get ahead of some of your toughest competitors in Cincinnati and Buffalo to take a player that they might want. With that in mind, at this point in the draft, it might just be best to see what is available at 31.
