Bryan Cook, Safety (Round 2, Pick 62)

In Sunday’s victory over San Francisco, Bryan Cook saw 25 snaps on defense but did not record a statistic, although he did have a tackle on a kickoff return. He played 22 coverage snaps and was not targeted a single time, which is always a positive sign. Even though Cook did not see a ton of action on defense, I would still call it a successful game for the rookie safety.

Skyy Moore, Wide Receiver (Round 2, Pick 54)

Even though the Chiefs as a whole had an awesome game, rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore had a rough day. In his 14 offensive snaps, he only saw one target and did not have a catch as that one target resulted in a Patrick Mahomes interception in the first quarter. In his lone snap on special teams, Moore muffed a punt that he inexcusably tried to catch inside the ten-yard line, which gave the 49ers the ball at the Chiefs’ 12-yard line. Fortunately, fellow rookie Joshua Williams bailed out Moore and picked off Jimmy Garappolo a couple of plays later.

Joshua Williams, Cornerback (Round 4, Pick 135)

Joshua Williams had one of the best plays of the game on defense for the Chiefs when he intercepted Jimmy Garappolo at the goal line late in the first half. Instead of a potential 21-14 deficit heading into halftime, the Chiefs had an opportunity to double-dip against the 49ers (score points at the end of the first half and then receive the second-half kickoff). The Chiefs ended up not scoring any points directly after the turnover but one can argue that taking away 3-8 points is just fine based on the situation the Chiefs put themselves in. Although he allowed a touchdown to Ray-Ray McCloud, Williams had a strong game in man coverage as a whole. In 21 man coverage snaps, he was targeted just three times for two catches, 23 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one pass breakup.
