Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos woes just keep getting woe-ier. The team that was supposed to be challenging the Chiefs for the AFC West crown has found themselves starting all their backups. I don’t know if there is something in the water in Denver but the injury bug bit and it bit hard. This forced the Broncos to start Jeff Driskel at quarterback and Joe Schmoe at every other position. I’m sorry Broncos fans, but your team might get the first overall pick this year (and I’m saying this after Week 3).

The Tom Brady-led Buccaneers traveled to Denver and seemed to walk all over the Broncos. It wasn’t ever close. Brady was able to toss the ball all over the field with ease while Denver could hardly move the chains. I guess we can just call it another rebuilding year? The Bucs put up 28 to the Broncos 10 and they didn’t even play that well. This Broncos team is a mess and it kind of hurts because I thought they could be fun to watch. This is just sad.

The injuries were so numerous that I couldn’t list them all so just have a look at this tweet:

Good golly, that’s a lot of Donkeys on a list and it doesn’t even include people who aren’t on IR like starting quarterback Drew Lock. On top of that, Vic Fangio just announced that right tackle Elijah Wilkinson will be placed on IR. The injuries this year can’t get any worse for the Broncos can they? They do expect to get Philip Lindsay back soon and Lock back by Week 6. We’ll see… If that is true, the Chiefs can expect to see Lock in their Week 7 matchup.

Next week, the Broncos have gifted us with the most exciting matchup of the year. You guessed it, it’s the 0-3 Jets vs. the 0-3 Broncos on Thursday Night Football. Thanks COVID. I think the only matchup that could be worse is Giants vs. Jets in primetime. I’ll watch it, but I won’t be happy about it. I think this comes down to the quarterback and Sam Darnold is better than Jeff Driskel, Brett Rypien, or Blake Bortles.

Game time is Thursday at 7:20 p.m.
