4. Chiefs 30, Texans 0: Jan. 9, 2016

Given the score to this game, it does not seem like the most exciting game nor one that belongs in the top five. However, longtime Chiefs fans were waiting for this moment for 22 years. This was Kansas City’s first postseason win in 22 years.

After a 1-5 start to the 2015 season, there was no realistic scenario in which even the biggest Chiefs homer could envision a postseason win, let alone an appearance. Despite the insurmountable feat, that is what ended up happening.

Running back and kick returner Knile Davis opened up the game with a 106-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Chiefs collectively ran for 141 yards while quarterback Alex Smith threw for 190 yards. Kansas City’s defense was busy all game long, coming away with four interceptions, forcing two fumbles, recovering one fumble, and finishing with three sacks. Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer finished with a quarterback rating of 4.5.

Although the Chiefs did not reach their ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl that year, there was a lot the team accomplished this season. Following a 1-5 start and the loss of running back Jamaal Charles to injury, the Chiefs finished the regular season with 10 straight wins, 11 including this game. A 1-5 start ended with the first playoff win in 22 years.
