NFL ranks Mitchell Schwartz at No. 94 of Top 100 players
By Matt Conner
The very first entrant for the Kansas City Chiefs into the annual Top 100 players list is right tackle Mitchell Schwartz.
The National Football League began its annual countdown of its top 100 players in recent days, and it didn’t long for the first member of the Kansas City Chiefs to come up in the rankings. Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz has landed at No. 94 overall, a sign that the offensive pillar is just now starting to break out as a household name.
Schwartz has been a known commodity to insiders for quite some time. The NFL’s reigning ironman (the player with the most consecutive snaps played in the NFL) has been immovable at right tackle for the Chiefs ever since he signed as a free agent back in the 2016 offseason.

A solid sign that the Chiefs absolutely love having Schwartz help anchor the line is found in their willingness to offer him a further one-year extension this offseason despite having two full years left on the original five-year deal he signed with the team in ’16.
The interesting (or maybe upsetting) thing about Schwartz is that, despite his steady excellence, the league has been slow to recognize and reward him. He’s made three straight All-Pro teams as voted by the Associated Press, from 2016-2018, but the Pro Bowl, a much easier honor to earn, has yet to come calling for Schwartz.
This year, Pro Football Focus even called him the best overall lineman in the game, but fans around the NFL still haven’t clued in that Schwartz is one of the best and deserves to be awarded for it. Schwartz has started all 112 games since his debut in the NFL back in 2012.
