The Kansas City Chiefs seem intent on bringing in competition for Austin Reiter at the center position this offseason. One option could be Brett Jones.
The Minnesota Vikings could use some help along the offensive line heading into the regular season. As they seek to lock up one of their own, however, they’re facing some competition in the form of the Kansas City Chiefs, among other teams.
Chris Tomasson, NFL reporter for the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, is reporting that Vikings center Brett Jones is a candidate to re-sign with Minnesota but that several other teams are also reportedly interested in Jones as an interior addition.

The Chiefs are listed as potential suitors by Tomasson along with the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, and Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones began his career in the Canadian Football League but signed with the New York Giants in 2015 after an impressive start to his CFL career—by winning the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie award. Jones was traded to the Vikings last August and backed up Pat Elflein. He’s now an unrestricted free agent.
Jones has also played guard in the past, so the versatility is likely what is drawing many teams to his talents as teams look for players who can help on multiple positions along the offensive front. The Chiefs have already lost center Mitch Morse to the Buffalo Bills in free agency, but his likely replacement is on the roster in Austin Reiter. That said, Jones could come in and provide competition for the important spot in front of Patrick Mahomes without the Chiefs having to invest for need in the upcoming draft.
With a solid amount of interested teams, Jones is going to make some money this offseason and the price might prove to be too much for the Chiefs. However the idea of adding Jones would really go a long way to secure the front line for the 2019 season and perhaps beyond.
