Kansas City Chiefs: Five potential targets at the NFL trade deadline
By Thomas Welte
Janoris Jenkins, Cornerback, New York Giants
Why it makes sense
Simply put, the Chiefs need help at just about every position in the secondary. The Giants are having a fire sale and would surely like to unload and aging and expensive Jenkins. Janoris could come in and thrive in a press man scheme and help the Chiefs compete down the stretch.
What might stop the deal
Janoris Jenkins is expensive. Likely much more expensive than the Chiefs would want to take on. Additionally, the Chiefs do seem to be relatively comfortable with the corners on the roster, for better or worse.
Cost and Probability
Jenkins will cost much less than the other names on this list, likely available for a 5th round pick. The cost comes more from the pocketbook in this case, as Jenkins is due over 20 million in the next two seasons. I think the Chiefs are likely to pass on this deal, I’d give it a 1 out of 10.
