Mitch Morse

Moving our focus to the trenches, we have not received good news about starting center Mitch Morse so far this offseason. He did not participate in practice outside of individual drills during the first phase of this years offseason program. His reps went instead to Cam Erving, who in the past has struggled just about everywhere he has played since entering the league.

Morse injured his foot back in week two of the 2017 season. He returned for a brief period before being placed on injured reserve in week 13 of last season. The fact that his foot is still bothering him months later is not a good sign. If he is unable to start the season, it would be a big blow to the offensive line.

With Zach Fulton signing in free agency with the Houston Texans, Kansas City now does not have a reliable player to replace Morse. We have all seen how just one spot on the offensive line not being up to par can affect an entire play. This offense will have a hard time producing anything if Morse is not healthy this season.
