The Miami Dolphins apparently were able to offer something better or at least held their ground enough to get Robert Quinn from the Rams instead of the Chiefs.

Just one week ago, the Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a surprise trade that shocked the NFL with the move of star cornerback Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams. In the process, a rumor leaked that the Chiefs wanted pass rusher Robert Quinn in on the trade, but that the Rams rejected that part of the offer. It does appear, however, that Quinn is still on the move, just a bit further south.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Miami Dolphins have apparently put together something attractive enough for the Rams to send Quinn to South Beach. At this point, the return on the trade is not known.

Quinn still has two years remaining on a four-year, $57 million deal he signed with the Rams back in 2014, an early extension that was tacked onto his rookie contract. His cap hit of $12.4 million this year and $12.9 million next year were apparently numbers that the Rams, under a new leadership regime, apparently did not want to pay.

The Dolphins, however, are looking to bolster their front seven and their pass rush, and adding Quinn is a way to do so in the thin market via free agency and the draft. This year’s draft class is especially thin at pass rusher with only a couple top notch prospects and question marks around everyone else.

Quinn will be 28-years-old next year and has struggled to stay healthy over the last few seasons, but he did play in 15 games in 2017. He had 32 tackles and 8.5 sacks last year after putting together 9 total sacks over the previous two years.

As for the Chiefs, they settled on a fourth round pick in 2018 and a second round pick in 2019 in exchange for Marcus Peters.
