Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says he knows why fans were booing during Sunday’s loss at Arrowhead and that the Chiefs are working hard to fix it.
If you watched the Buffalo Bills win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, you might have been struck by the loud jeers and boos coming from fans. For a team that’s still in the division lead, such a response from hometown fans could be taken as a surprise.
However anyone who has watched much of the Chiefs for the last six weeks would understand why. During Monday’s media session with reporters, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he also sees why fans are responding the way they have when asked about the boos at Arrowhead.
"We have great fans, tremendous fans. We didn’t do very well. Like I said, it was more one-sided on that. The offense didn’t do as well as we needed to do. I understand why they were booing. We surely don’t want that to happen. We are going to work our tails off to make it better. That part guaranteed. We are going to work on those things we need to get better at and get this changed around."

The Chiefs were double-digit favorites over each of the last two weeks, first against the New York Giants and secondly against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Yet between the two teams, the Chiefs could only manage 19 total points, including one touchdown that didn’t come until the second half of the Bills game. Fortunately Harrison Butker has been automatic as a rookie, which is another column for another time, but the Chiefs offense has been miserable.
When Reid says the team needs to work on those things, he’s largely referring to the offense, the one which generated only 17 rushing yards for Kareem Hunt and a single first down in the entire first half of the Bills game.
Despite the current slide of five losses in their last six games, if the Chiefs are going to be able to right the ship, they have the schedule against which to do so. With upcoming opponents like the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and more, the Chiefs aren’t exactly facing the NFL’s best. Then again, other teams at this point could say the same of K.C.
