Dee Ford’s play count isn’t indicative of his talent; it’s indicative of Tamba Hali’s.

It’s no secret that the edge-rushing specialist is vulnerable against the run. However, exiting college, Hali fit the same profile.

The difference is that the Pro Bowler has had nine years to buff out any rough edges, and he’s 30-plus pounds heavier than his protege.

Ford netted his second half-sack last Sunday, and if he were afforded the same amount of snaps as Hali, No. 55 would actually be on pace to have 2.5 more sacks (8.5 total) than his mentor.

Again, the veteran is still receiving the lion’s share of playing time due to his experience. Plus, he still ranks among the best pass-rushers in the league.

That being said, Ford participated in nearly half (45.7 percent) of defensive snaps last week, and he made his presence felt time and again.
