Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis are emerging as the league’s top running back tandem. The duo feasted on the Pats’ run defense to the tune of 199 rushing yards on Monday night. Knile Davis had his second consecutive 100-yard game. Quiet as kept, he’s the fourth-leading rusher in the NFL. Together with Charles, they’re a formidable backfield with big-play ability. Davis burst through a hole early in the second quarter and scampered for 48 yards.

Charles had three tough red zone touchdowns in the game (two of them were catch-and-runs). Both he and Davis averaged more than five yards per carry last night. The two of them are continuing a great running back tradition in Kansas City. Over the past 12-13 years, I’m not sure any team in the league has consistently had more talent at the position than the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dwayne Bowe and Travis Kelce were the team’s leading receivers against New England. The duo combined for 174 receiving yards and a touchdown. For Bowe, it was the first time all season where he’s made a significant contribution to the offense. In the first half, Bowe was targeted five times and he caught all five passes for 81 yards. Kelce’s becoming a star before our very eyes. He led the team with eight receptions last night and was just 7 yards shy of a 100-yard day. If the two of them keep this up, this offense will continue to be a nightmare to defend.

Dustin Colquitt is quietly one of the most consistent players on this team. He punted inside the Patriots’ 20-yard line four times on Monday. He dropped three of them inside the 10-yard line. He’s tied for the league lead in punts inside the 20. On a night where the capacity crowd at Arrowhead was as raucous as perhaps they’ve ever been, winning the field position battle was just one more advantage Kansas City held over New England. Colquitt is one of the biggest allies the Chiefs defense has.
