It's Official: The King is Staying

AUTHOR: Blog Z | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

“We have a plan and it’s being implemented. I have no intention to leave before the job is finished.”
- Carl Peterson

“Clark is as discouraged as any one of us. I feel bad for Clark because this is his first year as the leader of the new ownership group,” Peterson said. “We are going forward in 2008.”
This shows that Peterson seems to be making the decisions rather than Clark Hunt. Do we really want the GM speaking for the owner? I am waiting to hear from Clark and it should becoming anytime soon.
“We’re devastated. But we [...]

For All the L.J. Haters…

4-4* with…
(*4-0 when he received 20-plus carries)

0-8 without…

We just wanted to hook Jason Whitlock and all the other anti-Larry Johnson conspirators up with the most telling stats from the Kansas City Chiefs‘ 2007 season first. What more can we say about L.J.? The stats speak louder than any words can. Even from you, Jabba the Bojangler.

Fifth Pick Makes Us Want to Chug a Fifth of 151

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 15 Comments

Update: From ESPN…
The Falcons, Chiefs and Raiders all had the same strength of schedule — they played teams that finished with a winning percentage of .516 compared to .523 for Jets’ opponents.
Because the Chiefs finished third in the AFC West with a better record in common games over the Raiders, Oakland will draft ahead of them.
So the Falcons and Raiders will flip a coin for the third spot. If Atlanta wins, it will pick third followed by Oakland and Kansas City. If Oakland wins the toss, then the Chiefs and Falcons will flip for the fourth spot.

Arrowhead Advantage: Jets Lag

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: None Yet

10 Reasons Why the J-E-T-S completely S-U-C-K:
10. Eric Mangini is like Bill Belichick. With considerably less talent and a slightly geekier comb-over hairdo.
9. Herm Edwards was desperate to leave your mess for ours. “Harm” that.
8.  Seriously, I didn’t think you could get any goofier than the Croyle-Huard combo. Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemons not only look like Brodie and Damon, respectively, I think they’re actually the bigger dorks.
7. Right now, the only fans more delusional and angry than Chiefs fans are Jets fans. But they’re born that way. Ever watched the draft live? If Jets fans had pull strings they’d [...]

Stray Arrows: Goodbye, Eddie?

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Breaking News, Rumors | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Found this over at The Star, in an Adam Teicher “Notes” piece…
Wide receiver Eddie Kennison won’t play and has probably played his last game for the Chiefs.
We love you, Eddie, but it’s time to move on. Bernard Berrian as a replacement, anybody?

Chiefs notes: Croyle will start at QB – The K.C. Star

Chiefs' 2008 Opponents Almost Finalized

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 17 Comments

Here is an early look at the Chiefs‘ 2008 NFL opponents, with all but two games finalized:
KANSAS CITY:
Home: Denver, Oakland, San Diego, Buffalo, Miami, Tennessee or Houston, New Orleans, Tampa Bay
Away: Denver, Oakland, San Diego, New England, N.Y. Jets, Cincinnati or Baltimore, Atlanta, Carolina
Regardless how those final two undecided match-ups shake out, other than New England this is a very favorable schedule. If there was ever a schedule to rebound with, this is certainly it. Other than New England, is there any team we can’t beat if we take care of business this offseason? No. Pretty exciting stuff.

Stray Arrows: The Jets Blog Scouts the Chiefs

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Jets Blog — long one of our favorite NFL team blogs out there — took a long look at our Chiefs today. Quite the entertaining read, even for us homers who know the team and its struggles better than we’d like to admit. Here are some of the highlights:

“Harm” Edwards. (Sorry, but if you prematurely end Curtis Martin’s storied career by needlessly running him into the ground, you get no love here.) The Preacher, as he’s affectionately known by some, returns to the site of the crime, the Meadowlands, and to the team he jumped ship on in 2005 [...]
