Leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have a few key needs clearly defined. And, by no means is this team going to stand by and watch things unfold without entertaining some moves that weekend.

Owning the no. 31 pick in the draft, Kansas City is in an interesting spot. On one hand, there has been a lot of talk about prospects ranked between 20-60 being very similar. So, a trade-down scenario is well-within the realm of possibilities.

But, Brett Veach could also swing for the fences and move up if he sees a game-changing value for this team that came up just short of a three-peat. Kansas City is fortunate to have the best quarterback on the planet, thus they can take risks and sacrifice elsewhere at times.

A few specific trade scenarios may make sense come draft day, so let's dive into three in particular.

The Chiefs could move up and get Patrick Mahomes a future star WR

It isn't the top need in Kansas City, but if a certain wide receiver is still on the board at no. 24 overall (and he has been in many mocks) then the Chiefs need to go ahead and pull off a deal like this. After all, wide receiver is, indeed, still a need.

Moving up seven spots, the Chiefs give up a third rounder next year and engage in a fourth-round pick swap with Minnesota this year.

At pick no. 24, the Chiefs select Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka

Leading up to the draft, there's a debate to be had over which wide receiver should be taken first. The healthy majority still see it being Arizona's Tet McMillan, but you can never go wrong with a first-round Ohio State wide receiver as of late.

Emeka Egbuka has all the tools to be the top wide receiver in this class and could come in to be Mahomes' no. 1 option. Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown are fine no. 2 and no. 3 WRs, but Egbuka has the goods to be a legitimate alpha, especially with Mahomes in command.

Risking a package of picks to address the OL might be on the table for Kansas City

In a move where the Chiefs trade up even higher, they call the Atlanta Falcons about pursuing a top offensive tackle prospect still on the board.

Trading a second and third-round pick to climb up 16 spots, the Chiefs also give Skyy Moore a fresh start. He's certainly a throw-in on the deal, but Chiefs fans don't have to worry about the annoyance any longer.

At pick no. 15, the Chiefs select Texas OT Kelvin Banks Jr.

Getting one of the top-3 tackle prospects, the Chiefs bring in Texas' Kelvin Banks Jr. The 6-foot-5 Banks may or may not benefit from a move to guard, but he's well-worth moving up for. He's going to be a starter in this league and very well could become a franchise tackle in Kansas City, which would be more than welcomed.

The Chiefs can take advantage of a QB-needy team like the Browns

Finally, Kansas City could get to their first-round pick and receive a call from Cleveland, who had previously used their first rounder on Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter at no. 2 overall.

Browns draft day trade

With the 31st overall pick, the Browns jump back into the first round and select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

At pick no. 33, the Chiefs select North Dakota State OL Grey Zabel

Moving down just two picks and netting two additional swings in the sixth round, this year, the Chiefs are able to land an offensive lineman on the rise as of late. North Dakota State's Grey Zabel might be position-versatile, but the overwhelming sense around him is that he is going to be a heck of a player at the pro level.

Zabel has too many things going for him. He's extremely tough, possesses pro-level length and has played four different positions across the line. For a team in need of offensive line depth, the Chiefs just got themselves a good one.
