The past few days have been a whirlwind for the Kansas City Chiefs. After losing star wide receiver Rashee Rice and now awaiting a confirming report on his status, the team is growing thin at the position.

Meanwhile, another AFC West team has been in the headlines due to their wide receiver situation. The Las Vegas Raiders will likely be trading Davante Adams here, soon, and while he would look great in a Chiefs uniform, fans should temper their expectations.

In his latest insider segment for Bleacher Report, James Palmer dove deep into the current trade interest around the league when it comes to Adams. To no one's surprise, the Chiefs don't seem to be targeting an Adams trade.

"Where do they go from here? They're not really in on Davante Adams, never were. Trading in the division is a little bit difficult ... that was never really going to be a plan," Palmer reiterated.

The insider went on to describe what the Chiefs' plans could be instead of a player like Adams. After all, this is a team in need of wide receiver help, right?

Well, not so fast.

"If you talk to people in Kansas City it starts to lean towards, 'Maybe what we have is what we have,'" Palmer said.

Of course, the Chiefs have been in this situation before. They've been in a spot where they didn't have a legitimate option at the wide receiver position. Patrick Mahomes has worked with "what he has" in the past and has won a Super Bowl doing so. This isn't an unfamiliar situation for the Chiefs.

However, fans currently looking at a group featuring Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore Mecole Hardman, and JuJu Smith-Schuster might be ready to panic. Worthy is a phenomenal talent, but he hasn't shown the ability to be the dominating alpha like Rice had.

The rest of those names are merely WR3 and WR4 candidates at best. The fact of the matter is that Kansas City should go out and find another wideout.

Rashee Rice could be out well into the 2025 season

In this same segment, Palmer also went into where Rice's situation currently stands, first mentioning that there could be a silver lining, here. "He's seeking a second opinion, they're still looking at it. In the history of these types of injuries, this is a positive," Palmer explained.

Palmer continued to talk about how in these situations, usually a doctor is going to know immediately if it's a season-ending injury. For example, if it was an ACL tear, that's an easy one to spot from the initial testing. "Usually it's shown right away when the MRI comes ... this is kind of a little bit, maybe a positive as we sit and wait,"

However, there's a chance Rice is out for the year, and if that's the case, we might not see him for a very long time.

Palmer went on to note that because of Rice's legal situation, as well, that if he is indeed out for the season due to this injury, Rice may not see the field until we're into the 2025 season if he's suspended. So, this quickly went from a positive spin to potentially a very, very bad situation for the Chiefs' wide receiver.

In any event, the Chiefs are hurting at the position. Will they stand pat? We'll have to see.
