Week 4 saw the Kansas City Chiefs victorious once again, moving to 4-0 on the season with a win over their AFC West rival, the L.A. Chargers.
It was a game with many storylines, but the biggest one not being positive. Wide receiver Rashee Rice exited the game and is now feared to have a serious knee injury which could keep him out a lengthy period of time; even the entire 2024 season.
Meanwhile, there's another AFC West team with a star wide receiver in headlines.
The Las Vegas Raiders cannot seem to escape Davante Adams being brought up in trade rumors, and once again this past weekend, it happened.
NBC Sports' Mike Florio noted on the air, Sunday night, that unless the Raiders establish themselves as "clear contenders," an Adams trade will become more and more likely. This came on a day where the Raiders were victors, but also on a day where Adams sat out with an injury that popped up late last week.
Monday came, and a social media post went viral about Adams potentially having already played his last snap with the Raiders.
The real news came, though, when Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce "liked" this post.
First of all, what is an NFL head coach doing surfing social media on victory Monday, let alone taking the time to do such a trivial thing at any point in time? Doesn't he have better things to do?
The answer is unequivocally, yes.
Secondly, what in the world is Pierce thinking, going out and liking a post such as this? He was either not thinking, he doesn't care or he knows a trade is going to happen.
Or, maybe it's a combination of all three.
Either way, it's absolutely hilarious. The Raiders won, but they're definitely not contenders, and therefore maybe an Adams trade is already in the works, behind the scenes. It's very rare for a healthy player to pop up on the injury report on a Thursday and go on to not play, and in Adams' case, this could be a situation where he's already looking ahead at a trade.
A Davante Adams trade to the Chiefs would never happen
While this is funny for Chiefs fans, it's also not funny, on the other hand, because of the team's current situation. Kansas City is hurting at wide receiver now that Rice is out. They were already missing Hollywood Brown and are, of course, without Isiah Pacheco.
The offense is in a tough spot, and boy, to have a wideout like Adams come in via trade would be an a miracle.
We all know, good and well, that it's never going to happen, though.
The Raiders wouldn't be caught dead trading with the Chiefs at this point, especially not when it involves one of the better wide receivers in the game today.
A nice idea? Sure. Is it ever going to become a real possibility for Brett Veach and company?
Absolutely not. Time to move on.
