Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling was still searching for a home coming into mid-May, but he finally found a place to call home that keeps him in the AFC with the report that he's piqued the interest of the Buffalo Bills.
According to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, Valdes-Scantling was in Buffalo on Monday evening on a visit. By Tuesday morning, the two sides had reached a deal, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The former Chiefs wide receiver has signed with the Buffalo Bills after also visiting the Chargers this spring.
The offseason has been a long one for Valdes-Scantling who found himself released with a year left on his three-year deal from the Chiefs after a frustrating regular season last year. The Chiefs cut ties with MVS in late February and it took considerable time for him to sort out his first visit from the L.A. Chargers.
Valdes-Scantling is an interesting addition to a Bills offense that has completely remade its receiving corps for quarterback Josh Allen. Keon Coleman was the team's top draft pick after also bringing in Curtis Samuel in free agency to team with Khalil Shakir. They're also taking flyers on the likes of Chase Claypool and K.J. Hamler on the preseason roster, with Mack Hollins and Andy Isabella among the holdovers from last year.
As for the Chiefs, a potential return for Valdes-Scantling is now off of the table. The team is looking at life without Rashee Rice for multiple games due to suspension if rumors are true and the unit was already thin as it is. Hence the reason why the Chiefs brought in Zay Jones for a visit.
Valdes-Scantling has won two Super Bowl rings in his two seasons in K.C. He put up 15 catches for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns in 7 postseason games in that span. Last year, he set career lows for regular-season totals with the Chiefs with 21 catches and 315 receiving yards.
