The Kansas City Chiefs have officially parted ways with defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs. The move was widely expected for the past couple of weeks after Buggs was arrested on more than one occasion in the last month.
NFL reporter Tom Pelissero reported the news on Monday that the Chiefs had informed Buggs he was being released.
Buggs was charged with animal cruelty after two dogs turned up neglected and emaciated from starvation at a property rented in his name earlier this spring in Tuscaloosa, Alabama—where he played college football.
From there, even more recently Buggs was arrested once again on burglary and domestic violence charges. That brought up even more questions as to why he remained on the Chiefs' roster for as long as he did.
Buggs originally joined the Chiefs as a practice squad signing shortly before the team's postseason run began last January and he remained with the team through the offseason until now. The Chiefs were his fourth NFL franchise after having also spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit Lions, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
