Carson Steele's pet is as cold-blooded as he is

We barely even knew who this guy was a week ago and now look at him!

Kansas City Chiefs training camp and preseason are underway and one name that fans have become quite aware of over the past week is Carson Steele. The Chiefs signed Steele as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA this spring and he's been turning heads in training camp, to say the least.

Steele had a productive preseason opener, leading the team in rushing yards with 29 and finding the end zone once. It was a great start for the rookie fullback and you'd think that'd be enough for Steele, right?

Wrong.

Steele is back in the headlines this week because he apparently owns a pet alligator. Steele revealed during a press conference this week that his favorite nickname given to him is Crocodile because he owns a pet gator. He continued on about his pet gator noting that he received "Crocky J" in second or third grade as a Christmas present.

Carson Steele keeps getting cooler

Not only is Steele becoming a fan favorite and roster hopeful but now he has to go and one-up all of us by owning a literal alligator? And on top of that, the gator's name is Crocky J? Steele is putting all of us to shame on the coolness scale, that's for sure.

As for his roster hopes, I've discussed before how Steele could be the first fullback the Chiefs have had since Michael Burton left the team. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid used to love employing a fullback in his offense but the position has been mostly phased out. If Steele plays well enough this offseason, perhaps he could bring the position back to Kansas City and help lead the way for running back Isiah Pacheco and the rest of the backfield.

With two more preseason games to go, anything is possible but it'd be pretty cool to say that the Chiefs have a player on their team who owns a pet alligator.
