Drue Tranquill, Linebacker

Perhaps the most underrated player on the Chiefs roster is linebacker Drue Tranquill. He's been the perfect fit for the Steve Spagnuolo defense as he's excelled as a blitzer and has been good in coverage.

Similar to Mike Danna, he's a good player who Spagnuolo trusts, but the team may opt to spend their money elsewhere. Since Nick Bolton and Leo Chenal are under contract, re-signing Tranquill definitely isn't an urgent matter, though I do think it's a good idea.

This defense needs (at minimum) three linebackers to function and because Tranquill is so versatile, bringing him back, even on a multi-year contract is in their best interest and I believe the team agress with that.

Odds that he's back: 60%

Willie Gay, Linebacker

Much of the analysis said about Drue Tranquill also applies to Willie Gay. The main difference is that Tranquill is a better player than Gay.

I don't foresee a scenario where both Tranquill and Gay are both brought back and since the former has been much better this year, it's more likely the latter is allowed to walk in free agency. It wouldn't be shocking if Willie Gay is back next season, but I'm not sure if it's the best economic decision for the team.

Odds that he's back: 25%
