The good news for Travis Kelce is that he’s incredible in at least one professional sport.
It looks so simple. It’s only 60 feet and some change between a pitcher’s mound and home plate in a regulation baseball infield, but throwing a baseball is much tougher than it looks. Just ask Travis Kelce.
It’s been a helluva ride this offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in celebration of the Chiefs’ second Super Bowl win during Kelce’s tenure. He’s hosted Saturday Night Live. He’s got a popular podcast. He’s even hosting his own music festival during the draft.
The latest public appearance in an offseason filled with celebrity moments was the invitation to throw out the first pitch for his hometown baseball team, the Cleveland Guardians. Both Kelce and his mom, Donna, were invited to take part in the ceremonial first pitch.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well this time for Kelce. Check out the pitch below:
At first, it’s shocking to see, only because Kelce is good at basically everything. At this point, I would have bet on him to win a cooking competition or perhaps to offer to landscape someone’s backyard. But then you realize that baseball is also a professional sport and, hey, even someone in the Kelce family can’t be expected to do everything.
The good news is that Kelce himself had a sense of humor about the whole thing.
Or maybe Kelce was doing his best Russell Wilson impersonation.
