Leo Chenal shows why he never needs a bus pass
By Matt Conner
There’s a reason Leo Chenal is called Beast and this “scaling the bus” thing is definitely one of them.
During the regular season and postseason, it feels like Chiefs Kingdom got a decent read on the skill set of most of the team’s rookie class. After all, only three teams played their rookies more than the Chiefs in 2022, and so many of them were responsible for helping to deliver the second Lombardi Trophy in four seasons to Kansas City.
One player, however, that’s remained a bit unknown is linebacker Leo Chenal. Taken in the third round last spring, the Chiefs loved him as a strongside option coming out of Wisconsin, but there were some obvious growing pains ahead. In the midst of so many rookies earning so much playing time from the start of their careers, Chenal got a bit lost in the shuffle.
The good news is that Chenal was getting noticeably more comfortable as the season progressed and he was playing as much as ever in the postseason. But now, as the offseason has begun, it feels like we’re just now beginning to understand some of Chenal’s powers—even if that references some off-the-field ones.
On Wednesday, the Chiefs had their victory parade after beating the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII and some players chose to walk the route and connect with fans instead of wave from their assigned buses. But when Chenal wanted back on his bus, that’s when things got a lot more interesting.

Yeah, that’s some X-Men style skills at work here (or maybe your Spidey-Sense is tingling. Either way, we already knew that Chenal was going to show us more down the road after his rookie season. We just didn’t know that “never needing a bus pass” was going to be one of them.
