1. Week 9 vs. Green Bay Packers

Even more so than anything in the first part of the schedule, this specific game between the visiting Packers and the Chiefs was the single most anticipated game on the schedule coming into 2021.

This one has all the star power anyone could ask for, which is why FOX had to be thrilled they were gifted the game on a Sunday afternoon broadcast. It’s a battle between two conference powers and fairly common Super Bowl picks. It also features the game’s best two quarterbacks going head to head (sorry, Tom) in Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

Circling these superstars in the center ring are plenty of other peripheral figures who loom large. It’s the pass-catching prowess of both Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill. It’s one of the league’s best pass rushers in Chris Jones going against the likes of David Bakhtiari. It’s Aaron Jones and Travis Kelce, Jaire Alexander and Tyrann Mathieu.

Some are circling this as a Super Bowl preview and that’s quite possible. For the Chiefs, in the present, it’s also a look at how well they stack up against one of the league’s best teams. How ready are they for a showdown with another elite team? What lessons will they come away having learned about themselves?

Players and coaches always say you have to play the best to be the best, and this should be a good litmus test for the Chiefs.
