Week 2: Tua Tagovailoa / Jacoby Brissett

After a Week 1 loss, the Bills righted the ship with a Week 2 rout of the Miami Dolphins, winning 35-0. Too was injured in this game, and was only able to complete 1 of 4 attempts for 13 yards before Jacoby Brissett relieved him for the rest of the game. A journeyman quarterback, after not starting a single game last season as Philip Rivers‘ backup, Brissett came to Miami to back up Tagovailoa.

Brissett can win games, he just usually doesn’t. He has never thrown more than 18 touchdowns in a full season as a starter and has a 24-27 win-loss record as a starting quarterback. Due to these circumstances and the less than ideal offensive line in Miami, the Bills’ defense recorded a sack and an interception off of Brissett as he went 24 of 40 for 169 yards. The Bills defense played well against a backup who never won more than 7 games in either of his two seasons as the Colts starter. The Dolphins offense never so much as put up a fight against the Bills who trounced all over them for a shutout victory to move to 1-1 on the year.
