Less Josh Gordon (than you might think)

Before we assume that Gordon will just take all of Demarcus Robinson’s reps, it is important to note that for this very first game, the Chiefs are likely to ease Gordon into the lineup. Andy Reid said as much to reporters in recent days when asked and Gordon himself is likely going to experience the same sort of jitters you might expect if you found yourself ready to hit the field at Arrowhead for a Bills-Chiefs game when you haven’t played in 20 months or so.

Of course, we’d all love to see a splash sort of performance from Gordon, an instant impact the way the Kareem Hunt burst onto the scene against the Patriots back in 2018 or something. However, the Chiefs have plenty of other pass catchers with figurative mouths to feed, so there’s just no sense of urgency at all about having Gordon on the field at all.

Watch for Gordon to get a dozen reps, maybe a bit more, in his first game with the Chiefs knowing that he will pick up more as he eases back into the game.
