No one should be surprised that Patrick Mahomes‘ new signature shoe line with adidas sold out so quickly. Everything related to the K.C. Chiefs star quarterback is a hot commodity—from player jerseys to football cards—making it hard to find and likely expensive.

Last week, Mahomes unveiled the launch of his new shoe line—the arrival of the Mahomes IMPACT FLX—which finally went on sale this week. Mahomes even previewed the sales launch last night on his Twitter feed before unleashing fans on adidas’ website on Monday afternoon with the following.

From there, it was only a matter of minutes (maybe seconds?) until the shoes were impossible to purchase. If you were lucky enough to land a pair (or more), you scored an in-demand product that will likely see a robust response in the secondary market. For now, fans of Mahomes who were hoping to cash in will have to wait until adidas makes more available.

Patrick Mahomes’ signature shoe is a hot seller.

The shoe venture is just the latest business investment featuring Mahomes, who is already one of the NFL’s most popular players in overall merchandise sales. Mahomes has been instrumental in bringing the Whataburger restaurant franchise to the K.C. area, and he’s now also part-owner in local sports franchises like the Kansas City Royals and Sporting KC.

The reason Mahomes’ shoes sell like they do? He’s an unmatched performer in the most popular sport in America. While he’s surrounded by All-Pro talents like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, the truth is that he’s also the best overall quarterback in the game today and he’s still just entering his prime. He’s already won one regular season MVP, a Super Bowl MVP trophy, and continues to break NFL records with each new season as he produces at such historic levels.

For those who missed out on Mahomes’ shoe line on Monday, don’t fret. The reality is that Mahomes is always dreaming big and creating new opportunities and innovations. The biggest dream, off the field, at least, seems to be to bring an NBA franchise to the region. While that’s a tall order for a number of reasons, the reality is that Mahomes has the Midas touch. I wouldn’t bet against him.
