The 2021 NFL Draft is just about to get underway later on Thursday evening, and it’s shaping up to be a very memorable effort already. Trade winds are swirling all around for the reigning Most Valuable Player as Aaron Rodgers wants to get away from the Green Bay Packers as fast as he can. Trevor Lawrence awaits his official moment after years of being heralded as a future NFL great while at Clemson. Meanwhile the San Francisco 49ers are apparently deciding between quarterbacks, if you believe the rumors, despite having paid a significant price to move up to No. 3.

Of course, for our interests, the opening round on Thursday night is likely going to require plenty of patience for K.C. Chiefs fans after the franchise traded away their only pick on the night to the Baltimore Ravens. The comfort, however, is knowing that Patrick Mahomes is well-protected up front now with a new left side of Orlando Brown, Jr. and Joe Thuney. While it’s fun to wait and watch your team draft a player, very few people in Chiefs Kingdom would want the pick back from the Ravens at this point.

However, if you are a Chiefs fan, there’s plenty of anticipation for the draft’s days ahead. The Chiefs have two picks near the bottom of the second round in a sweet spot that Brett Veach identified as the real value in this class—before the 75th selection overall. Given the addition of Brown at left tackle, it will be interesting to see if the Chiefs further address the offensive front with their second round selections or if they end up bolstering other areas of need.

Will they grab a wide receiver to replace Sammy Watkins? Will they grab their next great center of the future? Will they seek further answers at linebacker, or what about another young cornerback to join L’Jarius Sneed and company? And of course, pass rusher looks like a glaring need opposite Frank Clark.

Only time will tell what the Chiefs will do, but knowing Brett Veach’s aggressive nature, we should also expect some movement with the Chiefs picks. Here’s everything you need to know to watch and enjoy the draft.
