The Kansas City Chiefs were the buzz of the NFL on Friday as news broke of their blockbuster trade with the Baltimore Ravens that brought them their new left tackle, Orlando Brown Jr. I love the trade and think the Chiefs are far better for it, but with the 2021 NFL Draft just days away, it also shakes up what us Chiefs fans should be looking for in the draft. The Chiefs now find themselves without either a first or third round pick, but thanks to some masterful bargaining by Brett Veach, they find themselves with two second round picks.

That means that the Chiefs two best chances to add players who can make real contributions this coming season will both come at the back end of the second round. So while their remaining picks in the fourth, fifth, and sixth round are still interesting, I decided to put my full attention this week on what players the Chiefs may have a shot to add with those two second round picks.

Now, let me be clear, a lot of the players I’m going to profile in this piece will be off the board by the time the Chiefs pick. Almost all of these players are guys that are often mocked or valued in the top 30-50 range. However, with KC picking at #58 and 63, some of these players are going to fall to them. It’s simple math and every year there are players people thought were top 50 players who are still on the board at the end of the second round. That’s why I love the Chiefs having these two second round picks while also landing their left tackle for the foreseeable future.

This draft is stacked with prospects who are viewed as second-round options that would be a huge help to the Chiefs at positions of need. The Chiefs now find themselves in a position where they can wait and see where the positions of value fall to them. Would I love them to draft a great wide receiver in the second round? Sure, but if a great center or linebacker falls to them instead, there is no reason to reach for any position.

So let’s take a look at some of the prospects the Chiefs could be hoping slide to them in the second round on Friday night, starting with the wide receivers.
