Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers hosted the Las Vegas Raiders in a divisional showdown. The Chargers are starting to look like they might have something in the future. Justin Herbert looks like the real deal. He is slinging the ball, but most certainly needs some time to put together actual wins. The hope with Herbert is that he could solve the problem of the Chargers “Chargering.” Doesn’t seem like he has that.

The Chargers gave the Raiders everything they had, and Herbert drove them down to the red zone with seconds left on the clock. For some reason, they decided to run the same play over and over again. Fade routes. Look, I get it, it makes for cool highlights, but only if it works.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t. The Chargers continue to find fun and exciting ways to lose. Head coach Anthony Lynn looks like he is in the hot seat because this team is talented enough to win, but they just can’t make it happen. I really hoped they would pull this one out because the Chargers aren’t going to the playoffs and the Raiders are in the hunt, but alas. I will say, though, that Herbert throws a nice ball.

The Chargers saw a few injuries in this game. Bryan Bulaga suffered a back injury and Justin Jackson suffered a knee injury. Both make it difficult for the Chargers to try and change the script on their interesting and frequent losses.

Next week, the Chargers get to travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. The Dolphins have looked great this season and are starting to look even better with the addition of Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. This will be a duel of young quarterbacks and is certain to have some fireworks. I am actually kind of excited to watch this one. I don’t think the Chargers win, but they will certainly put up a fight.

Game time is 3:05 p.m.
