Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the winless Jets on Sunday in a snoozefest of a game. The Chiefs, to their credit, took the game seriously. I was ready to change the channel after about 20 minutes, but the Chiefs played 4 solid quarters of football and smacked the Jets who are somehow still being coached by Adam Gase.

The Chiefs won in all three phases of this game with the offense putting together impressive drives and the defense causing chaos and locking down. Special teams had a good day and, overall, the Chiefs impressed. The run game left a bit on the table, but the Jets were playing to stop the run so Patrick Mahomes took advantage.

My favorite play of the game was certainly this touchdown “pass” to Travis Kelce.

This felt like one of those games that Chiefs teams of old would lose. The Championship Swagger is alive and well and the Chiefs aren’t overlooking any team. Also, one last video of the defense. Are they the greatest? Yes.

The Chiefs left the game healthy, but on Wednesday, the injury report showed that pass rusher Frank Clark is dealing with some swelling in his knee. That will be something to watch moving forward because the difference between a health Clark and an unhealthy Clark is notable. Right tackle Mitch Schwartz continues not to practice due to his back. However, L’Jarius Sneed and Sammy Watkins are starting their return to action. Sneed and Watkins have been missed and will be important down the road. I don’t expect them back before the bye, however.

Next week, the Chiefs host the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have been an average team with some flashes of greatness. However, I do expect them to be a good battle because it looks like we may see the return of Christian McCaffrey. His presence on the field changes everything. The Chiefs, however, will probably take care of business but don’t expect this to be the blowout that last week was.

Game time is Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
