The Chiefs and Jets are nearing kickoff. Don’t miss our complete game preview.

Will there be another game during this NFL season as lopsided as this one—at least on paper?

The New York Jets are not only still searching for their first win of the season heading into Week 8, but they haven’t put up much of a fight along the way. The defense has hung in there from time to time, but the team’s offense is absolutely anemic. Meanwhile the Kansas City Chiefs are defending champs who are already 6-1 in a young season with a comfortable lead in the AFC West and they’ve past the toughest part of their schedule.

These are the primary reasons why this game was given an approximate 20-point spread to start the week, as NFL oddsmakers expected a lopsided affair. Fortunately there are still reasons to watch the game, especially for Chiefs fans. The Chiefs offense hasn’t had an explosive showing in a few weeks, and they might enjoy a few explosive drives against the Jets before benching the starters (assuming it comes to that).

Le’Veon Bell is also making his home debut for the Chiefs after signing in recent weeks. This game in particular looms large on Bell’s own calendar given that the Jets were the team that released him. Bell had issues with the way he was utilized in Adam Gase’s offense, and now he’s playing for the game’s most creative offensive play caller in Andy Reid. It should be fun to see Bell show off to his former team.

Star players on both sides of the ball maintained that the Chiefs were not overlooking the Jets this week. Now it’s time to show it. This game could end up forgettable in the ultimate scheme of things. Let’s hope so, because if this game becomes memorable for one reason or another, it’s likely a negative one.
