Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers were also coming off their bye in Week 7 with a hope to turn their ridiculous losses into a win. With quarterback Justin Herbert impressing each week, the only thing he hadn’t done was put together a victory. The hope is that the Chargers would finally overcome that hurdle against a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team. Fortunately, they did just that.

The game was certainly not a pretty one as both teams came in struggling, but the Chargers came out on top. While the Chargers looked to be in control, in the third quarter, the Chargers went three and out and had a punt blocked which the Jaguars returned for a touchdown. Despite those mistakes, the play of Herbert (adding over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns) propelled the Chargers to a much needed victory.

Mad respect for Justin Herbert: he looks like the real deal. Just take a look:

Herbert looks like he is definitely the quarterback of the future for the Chargers. I look forward to many a Herbert-Mahomes duel (ending in a Mahomes win of course).

The only notable injury for the Chargers was tight end Virgil Green, who was helped off the field with an ankle injury. Other than that, the Chargers came out of the game relatively healthy. Interestingly, now backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor is cleared to play again, but his behind will remain firmly on the bench with the way Herbert is impressing. I do feel bad for him.

Next week, the Chargers travel to Denver for a divisional showdown. Both teams are facing the bottom of the AFC West as they attempt to not be labeled the worst team. I think the Chargers are definitely the better team, and Herbert is a more dynamic quarterback than Drew Lock right now and I have a suspicion the Chargers may be finding their 2020 groove. I predict L.A. will take this game.

Game time is Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
