Denver Broncos

The Broncos traveled to New England in the return of both Cam Newton and Drew Lock. Newton had not played since testing positive with COVID-19. Lock had not played since he injured his shoulder against the Pittsburgh Steelers in September. I had predicted that this would be a Patriots win and that Denver would not do much. In my defense, this was before I knew that Cam and Lock would play. Regardless, this game was the strangest game of the weekend.

The Broncos won on the back of (obviously) Brandon McManus.

Of course, we all predicted that the Broncos would win with nothing but field goals. Lock looked a little shaky in his return tossing two late interceptions that nearly allowed Cam and the Patriots to come back, but the Denver defense held on and gave Denver their second win of the season. With all the injuries, this is certainly an accomplishment as they look ahead to their next opponent: the Chiefs.

The Broncos will not only have Drew Lock available, but they will have Melvin Gordon back from strep throat. There is also a chance the Broncos have tight end Noah Fant available. Adding in these weapons will certainly be important as the weather forecast looks to be snowy in Denver.

The Broncos host the Chiefs in their first matchup of the year. The Chiefs are coming off an impressive showing against the Bills that relied heavily on the run game given the rainy Buffalo weather. They may need to do that again given the snow predicted for Sunday. We all remember the last time Drew Lock faced the Chiefs in the snow; it did not turn out well for them. Let’s hope that trend continues.

Game time is 3:25 p.m. on Sunday.
