The Kansas City Chiefs are dealing with another injury at cornerback with L’Jarius Sneed.

The tests confirmed the fears: L’Jarius Sneed has a broken collarbone.

On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs confirmed the news that fans feared about the sensational rookie cornerback. Sneed went down hard during the team’s dominant win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football and was forced to leave the game. At first, the team designated him as questionable to return, but further analysis kept him out for the rest of Week 3.

Now it looks as if the Chiefs will be without Sneed going forward for a bit—remember Tyreek Hill has a clavicle injury in Week 1 last year against the Jacksonville Jaguars and missed just over a month of time. Then again, every case is different and it’s irresponsible to make any guesses at this point as to what Sneed might be able to do or not do.

Sneed has been nothing short of electric as a late fourth-round pick thrust into a starting role on the outside for the defending Super Bowl champs. A great need at corner forced the Chiefs to rely heavily on younger players to start the season at the position, but Sneed has taken extremely well to the Chiefs defense—a testimony to Brett Veach’s vision, Sneed’s natural talent, and the Chiefs’ ability to coach up their defensive backs.

With Sneed out of the lineup, an already thin secondary will be tested even more. Bashaud Breeland won’t be able to return until after the team’s next game against the New England Patriots on Sunday due to a four-game suspension levied this offseason. Charvarius Ward was able to play but is still dealing with a fractured hand. Rashad Fenton will likely slide in outside opposite Ward as the team prepares for Cam Newton and the Pats.

Through parts of three games, Sneed has 11 tackles, 3 passes defended, and 2 interceptions for the Chiefs.
