The Kansas City Chiefs move to 3-0 after dominating the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

What began as the most highly-anticipated showdown of the NFL schedule quickly spiraled into a one-sided effort in Week 3 as the Kansas City Chiefs absolutely dominated the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

The Chiefs took control early in the game. After some momentum on their first drive, the Ravens were stopped as they neared the goal line and settled for a short Justin Tucker field goal. The Chiefs received the ball and never looked back from there.

The Chiefs opening drive featured the initial bursts of creativity from Andy Reid‘s playbook, including a 22-yard run by Tyreek Hill to open the game, and Mahomes capped it with his first rushing touchdown of the year. Unfortunately Harrison Butker missed the extra point.

On the ensuing drive, the Chiefs stopped the Ravens quickly and Mahomes delivered another touchdown drive that ended with an incredible call of a shovel pass to Anthony Sherman of all targets.

The Ravens weren’t quite ready to fold so quickly, however. Butker kicked the ball to Ravens rookie receiver Devin Duvernay and a 93-yard kickoff return brought the Ravens back to within three points, a 13-10 deficit.

From there, both teams traded punts successive three-and-outs but then it was all Chiefs. Mahomes and company marched 73 yards for another touchdown drive that featured a 20-yard strike to Tyreek Hill in the end zone, his third score of the year. After the Ravens punted, yet again, the Chiefs added another touchdown on a 49-yard pass to Mecole Hardman that put the Chiefs up 27-10.

The first half dominance was even worse when you figure in a missed 42-yard field goal by Harrison Butker to end the half and the missed extra point in the first quarter. In addition, Hardman dropped a touchdown catch before Butker’s field goal attempt that would have made it 34-10.

After the half, the Chiefs continued to dominate both sides of the ball, although the Ravens were allowed to creep a bit closer on the scoreboard due to self-inflicted mistakes on the part of K.C. Darwin Thompson fumbled the ball as the Chiefs were driving into the red zone, and the Chiefs also failed to convert a 4th-and-inches with a FB dive that stalled at midfield. The Ravens responded with a touchdown and field goal, but the Chiefs quickly came back with a touchdown drive of their own, one that finished with a touchdown pass to—wait for it—Eric Fisher.

Overall, Mahomes and the Chiefs completely dominated the Ravens in a showdown that was supposed to feature the two best teams in the league. At this point, it’s clear that no one can touch K.C. as long as they are on their game. Mahomes finished with 385 passing yards yards and 5 total touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing) to go with zero turnovers. Meanwhile, the Chiefs defense held last year’s MVP to a mere 97 passing yards and 1 touchdown.

The Chiefs are now 3-0 and sit atop the AFC West in sole possession of first place. They face the New England Patriots in Week 4.
