Around the AFC West: Raiders soar, Broncos suffer in Week 2

Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos traveled to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers in an important game for both squads. The Steelers, coming off a win against the New York Giants were hoping to keep pace in their division with the Baltimore Ravens. The Broncos, on the other hand, were looking for their first win of the season having lost to the Tennessee Titans last week.
The game changed midway through the first quarter when Denverās quarterback, Drew Lock, fell on his right shoulder awkwardly causing him to leave the game. In trotted backup quarterback Jeff Driskel.
With all the weapons, Driskel was able to hang with Big Ben and the tough Steelers defense for most of the game due to the Steelers penalties, but ultimately succumbed to a sack from safety Terrell Edmunds on a late fourth down to ice the game. This game was much closer than I thought it would be, especially given the fact that the majority of the game was played with a backup quarterback. The Steelers defense is really good, but the Broncos showed grit.
Donkeys fans are mourning injury news this week as after the game it was revealed that Drew Lock will be out 2-6 weeks with a sprained AC joint. The Broncos moved quickly and will signĀ Blake Bortles to replace him. That should be fun for non-Donkeys fans to watch.
More troubling, perhaps, is the loss of Courtland Sutton for the year. He ātore up his kneeā during the game after playing through a shoulder strain. Finally, DreāMont Jones was placed on IR due to a knee injury and is likely to be out for 4-6 weeks. The injuries just keep piling up.
Next week, the Broncos play the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon. Brady has looked old and Rob Gronkowski has been non-existent, but they are playing a shell of a team. Maybe we will see some Bortles magic? I doubt it. In the end, I think we see another Broncos loss.
Game time is Sunday at 3:25 p.m.
