The final injury reports are in for Chiefs and Chargers.

The Kansas City Chiefs are less than 48 hours removed from the first AFC West matchup of the season, and fans and players alike are pumped up for the game. Both teams have finished their team prep, and now that the final injury reports have been submitted, fans have a better idea of what to expect from Sunday’s game.

On the Los Angeles Chargers side of the report, pass rusher Joey Bosa provided some great news to his fan base by having a full practice and being given the thumbs up to play on Sunday. His presence will give the Chargers a huge boost, which could be important if the player who popped up on the injury report on Friday is an indication of something worse.

Tyrod Taylor is listed with a rib injury suffered during the final practice of the week. He finished practice in full capacity, but it was still notable enough to make the final report. This could be nothing, but if this injury is serious and limits Tyrod Taylor‘s movement, it could give the Chiefs’ elite defensive line the opportunity to attack.  It may also require the Chargers to rely heavily on their ground game, which may limit their ability to stay in the game with the Chiefs.

Other notable names on the Chargers side of the list include running back Justin Jackson, who is listed as doubtful, and starting center Mike Pouncey, who was actually moved to the IR when it was announced that he would need hip surgery.

On the Chiefs’ side, no new names showed up on the list, which is ideal for a team that suffered some significant injuries this time last year. (Remember that Eric Fisher, Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and others were all on the injury report for Week 2 in 2019.) Alex Okafor and Khalen Saunders were both listed out this Sunday, which was to be expected since neither of them practiced all week

More significant is the injury to Charvarius Ward, who was designated out for Sunday’s game. Earlier this week, the stage was set for Ward to potentially play with a cast, but as the week went on and Ward’s absence extended, the possibility declined. His absence will leave L’Jarius Sneed and Rashad Fenton as the assumed starting corners this weekend (expect Tyrann Mathieu to play a good amount of slot coverage this game, with Daniel Sorensen picking up some time at safety).
