Joey Bosa returned to practice as the Chargers prepare to face the Chiefs.

Practices leading up to Week 2 seem to be going well for both the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, with both teams managing to keep new names from creeping onto the injury reports. The only names present on Thursday’s list were there on Wednesday, a good sign for both teams.

On the Chiefs’ side, Alex Okafor, Khalen Saunders, and Charvarius Ward all missed practice again. This was expected of Saunders given the long-term nature of his elbow injury. However, Ward missing another practice this week may hint at whether or not he will be able to suit up this Sunday. His plan to get a cast and play was never a guarantee, and the signs are starting to point toward him missing Week 2. Only time will tell.

On the Chargers’ side of the report, the only change was the return of Joey Bosa. The pass rusher missed Wednesday’s practice with a triceps injury suffered during the Chargers’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. However, Bosa returned to practice in limited capacity, which suggests he’s gearing up to play on Sunday.

The difference between Bosa playing for the Chargers and him sitting out is significant, especially now that the Chiefs have an elite running back. Between that and being without one of the best pass rushers in the game while up against the best passer in the game can only mean bad things for the Chargers’ defense. His official game designation will be made after practice on Friday.

Bosa had 3 quarterback hits and 1 sack against Joe Burrow and the Bengals in Week 1.
