The Kansas City Chiefs have locked up Andy Reid and Brett Veach through 2025.

The Kansas City Chiefs are doing everything they can to keep this band together for as long as possible. The latest news has head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach signing contracts through the 2025 season, thanks to new six-year extensions from team owner. Clark Hunt.

Earlier this week, rumors leaked that the Chiefs were working on deals to extend both Veach and Reid for the foreseeable future. Apparently, the groundwork had been laid for some time because these deals were announced quickly.

Hiring Reid might be the single greatest decision made by Hunt as the team’s owner, as the future Hall of Fame coach helped the Chiefs turn around their fortunes from the single-worst record in the NFL in 2012 to a playoff team in 2013. Ever since his arrival in ’13, Reid has captained the Chiefs to the postseason in every season but one, and he coached them to the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 50 years in 2019.

As for Veach, he was a bit of a surprise hire after the franchise allowed John Dorsey out of his contract early. When word arrived that Dorsey would not be given a new extension like Reid when his deal was up after the 2017 season, he was given permission to leave and he eventually landed with the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs then turned to Brett Veach, who was given a promotion from within, to take over the reins of the front office.

Veach has been a stellar hire for the Chiefs with an aggression to go and get his man at whatever the cost along with a keen eye for talent. His remake of the 2019 defensive squad was instrumental in creating a balanced roster that allowed the Chiefs to win their first Super Bowl in a half century.
