Ricky Seals-Jones was carted out of Chiefs practice with a leg injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs can add another potentially serious injury to their list in training camp with the news that tight end Ricky Seals-Jones was carted off from practice on Monday.

Nate Taylor of The Athletic notes that Seals-Jones left with a leg injury during special teams workouts.

Seals-Jones was signed by the Chiefs to a one-year contract this offseason to serve as depth behind Travis Kelce and a potentially underrated pass catcher in Andy Reid’s offense. The Chiefs have been missing some solid hands behind Kelce ever since Demetrius Harris left—despite his own issues with drops—and Seals-Jones gave the Chiefs a nice receiving weapon on the depth chart.

Given that Blake Bell left in free agency, the Chiefs are now down to an ailing Deon Yelder and Nick Keizer on the depth chart to go with the recently claimed Daniel Helm, who was picked up on waivers from the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Without Seals-Jones, it will be interesting to see if Brett Veach makes a further move. Of course, details on his injury will be important, but being carted off the field sounds serious. Here’s hoping he can return to the team in short order.

Seals-Jones played for the Cleveland Browns last season and caught 14 of 22 targets thrown his way for 229 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Before that, he began his career with the Arizona Cardinals for two years after signing as an undrafted free agent back in the 2017 offseason.
