ESPN is reporting that Kansas City Chiefs cornerback was arrested on multiple charges in South Carolina on Tuesday evening

According to ESPN’s Adam Teicher, Kansas City Chiefs starting cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested Tuesday in York County, South Carolina on multiple charges.

Currently, we have no details beyond what is contained in Teicher’s report. Breeland is in jail and awaiting bail, which has not been set. We have no information on the circumstances surrounding his arrest beyond what the ESPN staffer says. He noted that Breeland “faces charges of resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license.”

The Chiefs have thus far declined to comment, but say they are aware of the situation.

Breeland signed with Kansas City on a one year deal prior to the 2019 season. He quickly became an integral component of the defense, taking over as one of the primary cornerbacks along with Charvarius Ward and Kendall Fuller.

Breeland was critical in the Chiefs 31-20 victory of San Francisco in Super Bowl LIV, registering seven tackles, two tackles for loss, and 1 interception in the victory.

He became a free agent after the Super Bowl but signed a one-year deal to return to Kansas City for $3 million. The signing was viewed as a bargain by most, considering the degree to which Breeland contributed to the Super Bowl Championship.

We’ll have more to report as the situation develops.
