16. Atlanta Falcons – C.J. Henderson, CB Florida

Analysis by Arrowhead Addict contributor Travis Steffen

The Atlanta Falcons have been a massive disappointment since their trip to the Super Bowl. Several factors play a part in the fall for Atlanta, but arguably the most concerning is the defensive performances they’ve had over the past two years. Considering head coach Dan Quinn is a defensive minded coach who came over from Seattle, it’s concerning that side of the ball has not shown the production that matches the level of talent.

After cutting their starting cornerback Desmond Trufant, and not replacing him during free agency, Atlanta has to be looking at a top boundary corner in the first-round. While there are some young names on the roster, including Isaiah Oliver and Kendall Sheffield, neither have proven ready to be the number one guy.

The Falcons look to take Henderson in the hopes of getting what they always dreamed Trufant would become. With similar athletic profiles, Henderson would be a good addition to Atlanta’s defense. Outstanding athleticism allows him to be sticky in coverage and jump routes. Whether he is carrying vertically, coming downhill in the short to intermediate zones, or playing from an off position in man coverage, Henderson possesses the speed, quickness, and fluid transitions to play any type of coverage. Pairing that with his length and ball skills, Atlanta might actually have their lockdown cornerback. (Travis Steffen)
