Cesar Ruiz – Michigan – 6’3″ – 307 pounds

If the Chiefs were looking to bolster their interior offensive line with the best player available in this draft, that would probably be Michigan center Cesar Ruiz. Ruiz is the perfect combination of power and athleticism. He pulls and gets to the second level with ease, but also has the power to move guys out of the way. Basically, he’s Muti without the injury concerns and Biadasz without the disappointing last season.

The other thing worth noting is that Ruiz still hasn’t turned 21 yet. He’s already an incredibly developed prospect and probably hasn’t even hit his physical peak yet. You combine that with a player that is smart and understands protections and angles and you have a prospect that looks about as bust proof as you can find (knocks on wood) in this draft class. While I don’t know that I would put interior offensive line at the top of my wish list for K.C.’s first round pick, if they were to address that position there, Ruiz would hands down be my pick.

In the clip below you can see how well Ruiz moves his feet to stay in front of a much smaller and faster defender. I think Ruiz would instantly be the best player on KC’s interior line. He can block guys alone, is great at double teams, gets to the second level, and can pull. He really does do it all already and he hasn’t hit his ceiling yet.

So there you have it Chiefs fans, my top five interior offensive line fits for the Chiefs. Would you be happy with any of these five ending up in Kansas City? Are there any of these five that you aren’t a big fan of or are there other players you would have put on the list over them? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
